Origin of the First Beeswax Bread Bag

The concept of beeswax bread bags is not a modern inventions, it has roots in European baking traditions dating back centuries, with the method perfected by French grandmothers and passed down through generations.

Historically, European bakers, especially in France, would wrap freshly baked bread in cloth coated with beeswax. This created a semi-breathable barrier that allowed moisture to escape slowly, keeping the crust crisp while preserving the crumb’s softness. Beeswax’s natural antimicrobial properties also helped prevent mold, letting bread stay fresh for a week or more

Our modern version debuted in 2016 and Beeusables™ were born to meet ours and consumer demand for a more sustainable, plastic free lifestyle. 

Handmade in small batches that allow the wax to fully bond with the fabric. The result is a reusable textile coated with a natural beeswax mixture that has been used for generations in various household applications.

Every wrap begins with high‑quality cotton muslin that remains unbleached and undyed. The beeswax used in Beeusables™ comes direct from the apiary, and the blend is finished with organic jojoba oil and pine resin, ingredients selected for food safety, their natural tack, pliability, and long‑established use in waxed textiles.
