The Beekeeper's Wife Salt Soap Recipe
Hey Maker! Thank you for watching my reels and saying SALT =)
This recipe makes about 4 pounds of soap. You can split the recipe in half or double it as needed for your mold size.
Ingredients:
-
16 oz. BW Maker's Blend get it here
-
16 oz. Coconut Oil
-
16 oz. Fine Sea Salt
-
4.6 oz. lye
-
9 oz. water
-
1.6 oz. fragrance/essential oil
Steps
-
Mix your melted oils.
- Add any colorant or fragrance.
- Carefully add lye water.
- Blend to very light trace.
- Add your salt and stir with a spatula or spoon.
- Pour into your mold(s). Move quickly!
Notes:
- Salt kills lather so that is why you are adding more coconut oil.
- Due to the properties of coconut oil in high amounts, this recipe is calculated at 20% super fat.
- The water is calculated at 2:1 because salt soaps set up pretty fast and get very hard.
- Be prepared and have time to check the soap and unmold and cut it as soon as it is firm. It will be too hard to cut if you wait too long.
- Salt soaps can pull moisture from the air and weep if you live in a humid or wet climate. Keep them in a climate controlled space.
Have fun and I hope you enjoy this recipe!
